Podium Finishes for Masters Open Water Swimmers

masters 3km open water swimming 1200 243x152During the Swim England Open Water Festival, Masters swimmers from the East Region took part in races over 1.5K and 3K with plenty of success.

In the 18-24 age group, Ellie Bushell (East Anglian Swallow Tails) finished 3rd with the men in the same age group dominating the podium with Harry Crisp (Norwich Swan) in 1st, Cavan Beck (Rochford) in 2nd and Alex Neeson (Dunstable) in 3rd.  They then repeated the same finishing order in the 3K event.


There were two podium finishes for Camilla Edwards (Co Cambridge) who finished 2nd in the 1.5K and 3rd in the 3K in the 35-39 age group.  Kirstie Kett (West Suffolk), also claimed two top three finishes with 3rd place in both the 40-44 1.5K and 3K, with Jo Croft (Hoddesdon) finishing second in the same age group over 3K.

First place finishes went to Ian Wimpenny (Hoddesdon) in the 40-44 3K and Ian Murray (Flitwick) in the 60-64 age group over 1.5K.  Also in the 1.5K, Jane Pye (East Anglian Swallow Tails) finished in 4th place in the 50-54 age group.

More podium finishes in the 3K event included Margot Anderson (South Beds Masters) who finished in 2nd place in the 70-74 age group as did both Ian Murray (Flitwick) in the 60-64 age group and Stuart McLellan (Sudbury) in the 65-69 age group.

Robert Milburn and Simon Emm (both Colchester) took 3rd place finishes in in the 40-44 and 50-54 3K events respectively.
