Deadline Approaching for East Region Posts
In preparation for elections at the ACM, we are seeking nominations for the following posts:
This is a reminder that the ASA East Region ACM is on the 9th September at Freckenham Village Hall, IP28 8JB. The meeting will take place 10.30am- 12 noon, with teas and coffees served from 10am.
East Region Swimmers Compete in Home Nations Events
With all the home nation meets now complete we would like to offer our congratulations to all involved. The statistics are very encouraging with 43 East Region clubs competing across the three events.
The Swim England event was a platform for 29 of our clubs to compete at a National level. With 168 swimmers taking part from the East Region we were certainly well represented. There were 163 final spots secured by East Region swimmers, bringing home an outstanding medal haul of 48 medals.
Podium Finishes for Masters Open Water Swimmers
During the Swim England Open Water Festival, Masters swimmers from the East Region took part in races over 1.5K and 3K with plenty of success.
In the 18-24 age group, Ellie Bushell (East Anglian Swallow Tails) finished 3rd with the men in the same age group dominating the podium with Harry Crisp (Norwich Swan) in 1st, Cavan Beck (Rochford) in 2nd and Alex Neeson (Dunstable) in 3rd. They then repeated the same finishing order in the 3K event.
Three Medals for Ben at Mediterranean Cup
Luton Diving Club's Ben Cutmore was one of ten divers representing Great Britian in Bolzano, Italy, in the Mediterranean Cup which ran from 3rd - 6th August. After claiming three medals last year in Group C (12/13 years), Ben moved up to Group B (14/15 years) and secured another three medals in this year's competition.
His first came on day two in the platform event where he came away with a silver medal. Day three saw a gold in the 1m and then a second gold medal on the last day in the 3m. For reports from each day of the Mediterranean Cup, please click HERE.
Success at Swim England Open Water Age Group Championships
The Swim England Open Water Age Group Championships took place on 31st July at Rother Valley Country Park. Swimmers from the East Region had qualified by finishing in the top three in their age group at the Regional Open Water Championships in July at Whitlingham County Park, Norfolk.
Great Performance at British Champs
British Summer Championships came to a close Sunday evening after six days of fierce competition at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. The East Region was well represented with 22 clubs and 116 swimmers competing at the event. Of these 22 clubs, 18 placed swimmers in finals, which is an outstanding achievement. From those finalists the medal total was 10 golds, 6 silvers and 23 bronzes.
East Region Swimmers Selected for World Para Championships
Congratulations to Jordan Catchpole (UEA Norwich), Jessica-Jane Applegate (UEA Norwich), Louise Fiddes (Hatfield) and Danielle Hartin (Basildon & Phoenix) who have all been selected as part of the GB team attending the World Para Swimming Championships in Mexico from 30th September - 6th October.
