2017 Swimming Senior Coach (Level 3) Now Open
The new Senior Coach 2017 intake (Level 3 as you will have previously known it) is now open for applications, and will close 1st September.
Successful applicants will be required to then attend an induction weekend to formally start the programme on the 18th and 19th November and then will be expected to attend 2 further learning days during the programme. More information about the course, and how to apply, can be fund HERE.
Safeguarding Courses during Swim England Summer Meet
As you will be aware, from January 1st 2018, coaches are required to hold a valid Safeguarding certificate in order to purchase a poolside accreditation. This is not a new requirement, as all personnel within a club that holds a DBS check, must also hold a Safeguarding course certificate. In anticipation of the Accreditation Pass changes the Institute of Swimming will be running Safeguarding courses during the Swim England Summer Meet this year.
ASA East Region Annual Council Meeting
Our ACM will take place on Saturday 9th September 2017 at Freckenham Village Hall. The ACM will include the presentation of annual awards, discussion of the 2016/17 Annual Report and Accounts, and will offer members the opportunity of asking questions about the work, and management, of the region.
2017 Jeff Cook Salver and Silver Pin Awards
THE ASA East Region are now welcoming nominations for the Jeff Cook Salver and The Silver Pin awards for 2017.
These awards, presented by the ASA East Region Management Board, recognise the contributions made to the development of swimming by its volunteers.

East Region Success at Para World Series, Berlin
Members of the East Region enjoyed success at the fifth and final World Para Swimming World Series event held in Berlin, Germany between 3 - 9 July 2017. The Great Britain team won the overall World Para Swimming World series title, after excellent performances of swimmers in the series.
East Angels Claim Bronze at U16 Inter Regionals
The U16 Girls Inter Regional water polo competition took place in Walsall on 8th and 9th July with the East Angels finishing in third place. Congratulations to all of the players and staff! For a full torunament report, please click HERE.
National Age Group Success for East Region Divers
The Swim England Diving National Age Group Championships was held in Sheffield from 6th – 9th July and saw 40 divers from four East Region diving clubs take part. The competition is aimed at divers from 9 – 18 years of age and includes springboard, platform and synchro events.
Congratulations to all of the divers from the region who took part and extra congratulations to those who won a total of eleven individual and three synchro medals!
Congratulations to Paul Kendall
Congratulations to Paul Kendall, our regional Open Water Manager, who has been selected to attend the European Junior Open Water Swimming Championships in Marseille 4-6 August, as one of the fourteen International Technical Officials at this event. The other UK ITO attending is Anastacia Pereira, from South West Region.
