Examination of East Region accounts

At the Annual Council Meeting the Independent Examiners for the Region’s accounts are appointed. This year the meeting decided that, in the interests of good governance, it would be appropriate to seek tenders for the role from registered auditors. The Region’s financial year runs from 1 April to 31 March but we are looking to change to it being a calendar year. The Region uses Sage Accounts Essentials to manage its finances. The Region’s accounts are usually prepared within a month of the year end and the Management Board look to sign them off in July. If the financial year changes we would expect the elapsed time before sign off to be similar. To express an interest and find out more detail about the region’s accounts please email financemanager@eastswimming.org by 31 October 2019. We will then aim to discuss details and processes with those interested in tendering so that the Board can make a decision at its meeting on 15 December 2019.

Swim England East Region Short Course Championships 2019 – Online Entry Pilot

In order to relieve pressure on club volunteers, Swim England East Region is piloting the use of an online entry system for the forthcoming Swim England East Region Short Course Championships which are to be held at Basildon Sporting Village from 1-3rd November 2019.

This means that swimmers and their representatives will be able to make and pay for entries themselves, with club representatives entering relay teams, (also online) and arranging coach passes in the usual way, by submitting information and payment via the office and BACS transfer.

Para Swimmers and their representatives can also enter the championships themselves, by filling in an entry form and sending it to the Entries Manager, and paying by BACS transfer.

The entry system is now live.

The final Entry Pack is now available as is the Coach Pass Application. The closing date for entries is Friday 4th October 2019 (noon).

We look forward to welcoming you to Basildon in November.

Short Course Championships Para Swimmer Entry Process

This year we have introduced an online entry process for the Championships. In order to give us more time to ensure that the new system works for rather than disadvantages Para Swimmers we have decided to have a different process for Para Swimmers this time. The process still allows for individuals to make their entries themselves and to pay for them online.   To enter a Para Swimmer should complete the entry form found here and then email it to swimentries@eastswimming.org. The entry administrator will then confirm the swims and give details of the payment method.

Long Course Championships 2020

News has reached Swim England East Region that the early May bank holiday in 2020 will be moved from Monday 4th to Friday 8th May to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day. Swim England East Region has held regional swimming championships using the three days of this weekend since the region was created in 2005, and it was our intention to do so in 2020. The schedule had been written and was due to be published this week. Clearly yesterday’s news of a change of date will necessitate an amendment to these plans and we thank you for your patience whilst we consider the various options.
