This is the main page for Swimming Technical Officials to enrol in attending CPD’s being run by the Regional Swimming Officials Leadership Group or nationally by the Institute of Sport (IOS).

This course replaces the Contemporary Issues CPD required for renewal of a technical officials licence.

Who is the course designed for?

This training has been designed to give a basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare and best practice for adults within an aquatic environment. This includes parents, guardians or those who volunteer in a role that does not require a DBS and want to improve their understanding of the topic.

Course Content

The eLearning will give you an understanding of:

  • Why safeguarding is important, key documents and ways to keep yourself safe.

  • How to recognise and report behaviour that is not acceptable.

  • Where you can find additional support.

The course can be done at your own pace and it can be stopped and returned to at any time.

Who is the course designed for?

This online course has been designed to provide support and guidance for officials refereeing for small or locally run competitions. It is important to note that completion of this module will not qualify you as a referee. We cannot provide a completion record or certificate for this online resource.

Course content

This online course incorporates varying activities and checks on learning, which enables you to recognise and identify the duties of a referee at a swimming meet with regard to:

  • The role of the referee

  • The role of the referee with specific reference to Health and Safety

  • Producing the race result (Manual and AOE)

This presentation is for regional licensed Judge Level 1 technical officials who wish to know more information regarding progressing further onto Judge Level 2 training.

The roles and duties of Judges of Stroke, AQUA Laws of Stroke, the role and duties of Finish Judges. Practical experiences in relation to the judging of stroke and Finish

The CPD is an introduction to officiating at events that include swimmers with a disability, aimed at swimming technical officials, Judge Level 1 or above. This CPD will give an overview of Functional Classification System, Terminology & Sport Class Overview including knowledge of World Para Swimming (WPS) rules and rule exceptions.

The CPD is free and attracts 3 points towards the renewal of the BS officials Licence.

If you have already attended a similar Para Officiating CPD since Summer 2023, this is the same presentation and it is intended for new attendees.
