Strategy Consultation

In order to produce a meaningful strategy for the region, first we need to understand what we are aspiring to be.

We have created some suggestions for our vision, and we would like to have your thoughts on these.  Please can you rank these in order with 1 as your most appropriate and 4 as your least appropriate.

• To act with honesty and integrity whilst having a passion for progression and growth of Aquatics;
• Advance any aquatic purpose that is line with charitable status in accordance with the laws of England and Wales in association with swimming, open water swimming, diving, high diving, artistic swimming, water polo and other aquatic activities;

• Deliver a robust quality control mechanism to ensure clubs are run in accordance with good Governance including Club Affiliation and SwimMark;
• Communicate regularly with clubs and associations, providing useful information, updates, and opportunities;
• Provide the most appropriate opportunities for our members by holding regular discipline specific meetings of volunteers that are knowledgeable in their field;
• Recognise and thank our members for extraordinary services provided through Regional Awards;
• Work in partnership with county associations to ensure pathways and services are aligned;

• Provide support with internal disputes and welfare issues
• Promote community participation in swimming, open water swimming, diving, artistic swimming and water polo to advance physical education through the medium of swimming, open water swimming, diving, high diving, artistic swimming and water polo;
• Seek to improve athlete pathways through working with facilities, swim schools, and schools, to establish feeder programmes into our clubs;
• Seek to grow diversity of our members within the sport;

• Improve the potential of our athletes by providing regional training, selection trials and squad sessions for some of our disciplines;
• Offer quality pathway programmes, assessment opportunities, and camps for our athletes that are progressing through the talent pathway;
• Increase the potential of our para-swimmers through providing a programme of training sessions;
• Provide resources to educate and support the athlete journey;

• Deliver high quality competition events for our athletes in all disciplines;
• Produce Inter Regional teams for competition;
• Maintain a log of regional records;
• Ensure swimming competitions around the region are fair and equitable by meeting licensing criteria;

• Investigate the possibility of apprenticeship programmes to enhance the multi discipline coach;
• Increase the knowledge base of our coaches through mentoring programmes, newsletters, courses and workshops;
• Support the growth and development of officials in all disciplines by providing training, mentoring, and pathway opportunities;
• Provide opportunities for volunteers to train, develop and progress through the volunteer pathway;

Relieve people with physical, sensory and mental disabilities by encouraging and facilitating participation in sporting activities, sporting programmes and assisting in the provision of training, facilities and equipment particularly in relation to swimming, open water swimming, diving, artistic swimming and water polo;
• Raise awareness amongst our clubs about the importance of mental wellbeing;
• Improve the health of young children by providing school club links;
• Advance health and the saving of lives by the provision of teaching and training in water safety and swimming instruction;
