The Swim England East Region Swimming Officials Leadership Group are planning to run a face to face training day for regional licensed starters who act as referees at galas within the region.
The day will cover various topics including:
- Duties of a referee
- Poolside safety checks
- Race results
- Briefings and protests
- Poolside processes
- Starter theory refresher
The course is designed to assist you carrying out the role and make you fully aware of their responsibilities when acting as a referee.
Attending the course will equip you to carry out this role at lower level meets. If you are thinking of applying for the 2027 Swim England Referee Examination course, it will assist you in making that decision.
The course is being held at Freckenham Village Hall, 7 Fordham Rd, Freckenham, Bury Saint Edmunds IP28 8JB.

Times to be confirmed, expected 0930 - 1630hrs
SE East Region will not be paying travel and refreshment expenses for attendees. We recommend officials travelling together when possible to assist parking at the location.
Tea, coffee, biscuits etc will be available during the day for those attending.
Expressions of interest will close on 30 June 2026, the SEER SOLG will decide if the course is viable to proceed. All applicants will be notified of the decision by email.
