Regional Swimming Talent Camp Underway

14 September 2017

talent campThirty-six swimmers, ten coaches, two team managers, two support staff and one strength and conditioning coach got the swimming season off to an exciting start this weekend in Peterborough, with all six counties in the East Region represented at the first of three Regional Development Camps.  The purpose of the day was to offer a region-wide opportunity for both swimmers and coaches to improve their understanding of the athlete pathway, the fundamentals of pre pool and post pool land work and the technical elements of starts, turns and finishes. Three coaches took up the opportunity of coach development through observing the day and working with the various staff to learn and share ideas and best practice.

“This is the first of three events we will be running before the Christmas break, and it is a great opportunity for our athletes to work with new coaches and team mates, preparing them for future years in their swimming journey. It is also a fantastic free chance for coach development with the shadowing opportunities we’ve made available. The second day in October is based in St. Albans and is again an open invitation for any coaches in the East to come along and learn and share ideas. All the information is on our East Region website, so please do get in touch and book on.” Kevin Pickard – ASA East Region Swimming Talent Officer

If any coaches wish to contact Kevin regarding the programme please email or visit our website for more information on the shadowing opportunities available.
