Lewis Coleman

When did you first start swimming?

I was around 6 when I first started having lessons; I then went on to join Ramsbottom SC at the age of 8

What has been your best experience so far in swimming?

I was 12 at the Southern Counties at Crystal Palace, The last race of the season and I still hadn’t got any national qualifying times, I got into the 200 Breastroke final as a reserve, I was selected and swam as a reserve from lane 1, I came 2nd and got my very first national time.

What are your ambitions for next year?

I would like to get into the European Youth Team, win medals at the Nationals and be selected to go to the offshore centre in Southport.

What are your long-term ambitions?

Swim for Great Britain at the Olympics

What do your school friends think about your swimming?

They think i'm a bit of a psycho for all the early mornings I do, however some of them are proud of me for what I have achieved.

What do you enjoy doing outside swimming?

Generally relaxing and spending what little spare time I have with my friends.

Who are your sporting heroes?

Michael Phelps – I admire the way in which he has never missed a session, that’s why he is so good at what he does!

Where is your favourite swimming pool?

Sheffield – It is such an amazing atmosphere and I always seem to swim fast there!
