The first East Region Water Polo Junior Cup was held on 21st June, hosted by Deben SC. This was for players born 1993/94. The tournament included Deben, Ipswich and a joint Basildon/Chelmsford team. The Essex team were up first against Ipswich and the scoreline did not really reflect the matchplay as a close game was won by Essex, 9-3.
Deben were drawn against Essex next, and a strong second and third period did the damage as Essex again finished winners with a 9-3 scoreline. The all-Suffolk clash of Deben versus Ipswich would determine who would meet Essex again in the upcoming final of the tournament, and it was Deben who came out on top, changing their style of play from the previous match and recording a 10-2 victory.
