Youth Championships -Day Two Report

The second day of the Youth Championships saw swimmers competing in 14 events, and provided some exciting finals.  In the women’s events, Anne Bochmann (UEA City of Norwich SC) won 2 events in the 15 & under age group, the 400m IM and the 200m Freestyle, also picking up a silver medal in the 200m Butterfly.  Sophie Chamberlain (St Felix school), competing in the same age group, won the 800m Freestyle and won 2 silver medals in the 400m IM and the 100m Breaststroke.  The 15 & under 50m Backstroke was won by Charlotte Taylor (teamipswich SC), the 100m Breaststroke by Alex Harrison (St Felix school) and the 200m Butterfly by Bethany Coggins (UEA City of Norwich SC).  Bethany also won bronze in the 400m IM. 

 

In the women’s 16 & over age group, Jessica Ford of Thurrock SC won the 400m IM and the 800m Freestyle.  Rebecca Reader (teamipswich SC) won the 50m Backstroke, Harriet Brettle (Mid Beds Swim Squad) the 200m freestyle, Petra Chomicz (King’s Lynn SC) the 100m Breaststroke and Katie Ambridge (Hatfield SC) the 200m Butterfly. The 14-17 years 4 x 200m Freestyle relay was won by teamipswich, from UEA City of Norwich in second and Hatfield ‘A’ in third.

 

The men’s 15-18 years 4 x 200m Freestyle relay was won by Hatfield ‘A’, with teamipswich in second place.  In the 16 & under age group Lewis Coleman (teamipswich SC) won the 400m IM and the 100m Breaststroke.  Thomas Sutton (St Felix school) won the 800m Freestyle, James Sutherland (Hatfield SC) won the 50m Backstroke, David Godridge (Watford SC), the 200m Freestyle and Sean Tomlin (Borough of Southend SC) the 200m Butterfly.  In the 17 & over age group Jonathan Quinn (Hatfield SC) won the 400m IM and the 100m Breaststroke.  Bret Ferguson (Hatfield SC) won the 800m Freestyle, John Sargent (Hatfield SC) won the 50m Backstroke, Charlie Walker (City of Peterborough SC) won the 200m Freestyle and Kouji Urata (Hatfield SC) won the 200m Butterfly.

 

In the multi disability events, Sam Bradley (Mid Beds Swim Squad) won all the men’s events, the 100m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke and 200m Freestyle.  In the women’s events, Emma Hollis of Epping Forest SC won the 100m Breaststroke, Jodie Fleming (Colchester Phoenix SC) won the 50m Backstroke and Sarah Bowling (King’s Lynn SC) won the 200m Freestyle.
