David Metcalf accepts the President's Chain from Mike Rayner

The Region's Annual Council Meeting was held in Peterborough on 13th September, and included presentations of Regional Volunteer Awards.

The Aquaforce Volunteer Award winners were presented with their awards by outgoing President Mike Rayner.  Phil Nice, Ian Cotton, Sharyn Bord and Laura Cotton were all present to receive their awards, and Oliver John Christian's award was presented to the chair of teamipswich SC in his absence.  Dave Robinson of Mildenhall SC was awarded the Jeff Cook Salver, for his contribution to the work of the Region.  Dave is the Region's record officer and maintains the list of junior and senior swimming records, masters records and disability swimming records.  In recognition of their dedication and commitment to the sport, Silver Pins were awarded to Jeanne Barker (City of Cambridge SC) and Sharyn Bord (Cambridge Dive Team), and wil be awarded at a suitable date to Sheila Westall (teamipswich SC), Bill Clark (Southend-on-Sea Diving) and Bob Outtram (Dunstable SC), who were not available to attend.

The nomination of David Metcalf (Mid Beds Swim Squad) as the Region's President for 2008/09 was confirmed, and Mike Rayner handed over the President's chain of office to David.  David was also elected to serve on the Regional Management Board, as was Chris Galer (UEA City of Norwich SC).  Sheila Mackenzie (Hoddesdon SC) was nominated as President Elect.

Delegates considered proposed changes to the Constitution and raised points of interest from both the asa Annual Report and the ASA East Region Annual Report.

The meeting ended with a presentation given by the Regional representative to the asa Board, Ian Mackenzie, on the relocation of the asa offices.  Click here to view the presentation.
