New coaches for Bedfordshire Clubs
07 Jan 2010 20:45

Following the retirement of Diane Brinkler, Flitwick Dolphins Swimming Club are pleased to announce the appointment of Rebecca Gilbertson as the new Head Coach. Rebecca will take over the position as from 1st January 2010.

Rebecca has held the position of Assistant Coach at the Club since April 2007 and has now stepped up to the Head Coach position. An experienced licensed level 3 coach and ex-GB international disability swimmer, the committee are confident that Rebecca has the skills and knowledge to lead the club and would like parents and swimmers to join them in offering their full support in welcoming her to the position.

On behalf of everyone at Flitwick Dolphins, the Committee would also like to thank Diane for her sterling work as Head Coach. Her tenure has seen major improvements in swimming throughout the squads, and the club wish her the very best for the future.

Moderian Swimming Club also welcome new coach Ian Douglas who has been offered the role of Head Coach following the resignation of Brian Brinkley. The club announced they were delighted that Ian has agreed to take over at MSC with effect from 1st January 2010. Ian is a Level 3 coach and committed to working with Claire Anderson (Junior Squad Coach) to develop the club.  We are very fortunate to have found such an excellent replacement for Brian and are confident that Modernians will go from strength to strength.

The Committee would like to express their sincere thanks to Brian for all his hard work over the last five years and fully understand the difficulties he has had in juggling the demands of a full time job in London, the heavy coaching commitment, his family and the strains of travelling.  We have therefore regretfully accepted his decision to leave but, as a former Modernian swimmer, hope that he will keep in touch and visit whenever he has time.
