The BBC Unsung Hero Award is now in its sixth year, and the BBC are again inviting nominations for the 2008 Award.
Each of the 15 BBC TV Regions will name their Sports Unsung Hero, and each of these 15 winners will be invited to the BBC’s national celebration of sport – the Sports Personality of the Year programme – where one of the 15 is also named the overall winner.
Nominations are sought from the public – this year the closing date is Friday 31st October.
The 15 Sports Unsung Hero Regional Winners will also have the opportunity to apply for a bursary of up to £2,500 each, to help with their work with sport in the community.
Selection Criteria
- Evidence of other enabling actions which have improved sports participation – fund raising for new facilities, construction of those facilities.
- Testimony from those who have been ‘enabled’ in the past or currently.
- No winner can be named by more than one BBC Region as their Sports Unsung Hero.
