Thurrock Swimmers swapped their time in the pool to pack bags at Asda in Tilbury on Saturday 23rd August to raise funds for their training camp in October this year. 32 of the club’s swimmers are travelling to Lignano in Italy near Venice to a warm weather training camp to train for 5 days during the school half term week. The swimmers will train for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon coupled with daily land training sessions in an on site gymnasium.
The club boasts an impressive number of county, East region and national swimmers and is training hard at every opportunity to improve on this.
Hazel Day, Club Fundraiser said, “It was good to see the swimmers out of the pool and helping raise funds for their own camp. They worked hard for the 3 hours solid even though they had been training at 5.45am that morning”.
The club’s fundraising committee have now raised £9800 towards a £20,000 target.
The packers were: Alex Brown, Joe Brown, Bradley Clarke, Melissa Cowell, Francesca Day, James Day, Tom Ford, Sonny Ford, Amy Gore, Shannon Harold, Gareth Hawkins, Charlie Hard, Amy Hatfield, Charlie Hayes, Rebecca Hayes, Georgia Mills, Jake Mills, Brooke Mcarthy and Emily Neal.
