Swimmers from across Britain have been competing at the asa National Youth Swimming Championships in Sheffield. The country's top swimmers with disabilities were also competing, many of whom were testing how their training has been progressing with only 6 weeks to go to the Paralympics.
Medal winners from the region were; Sophie Chamberlain (St Felix School) who won bronze in the Women's 14/15 years 400m IM, Bobby Cave (Hatfield SC) who won bronze in the Men's 17/18 years 200m Breaststroke, Alexandra Harrison (St Felix School) who came third in the Women's 14/15 years 200m Breaststroke, David Godridge (Watford SC), who came third in the Men's 15/16 years 50m Freestyle and Claire Barron (UEA City of Norwich SC) who won bronze in the Women's 16/17 years 100m Breaststroke.
Also on the podium were Natalie Jones of Colchester Phoenix SC who won the Women's multi-disability 200m IM and 50m Butterfly and came third in the Women's 100m Freestyle. Claire Warne (Flitwick Dolphins SC) took bronze in the multi-disability 50m Butterfly, Lauren Steadman from Huntingdon came second in the multi-disability 50m Freestyle and Emma Cattle, originally from Luton, won bronze in the multi-disability 100m Backstroke.
In the longest pool event of the Championships, Aydin Berki (Mid Beds Swim Squad) came third in the Men's 15/16 years 3000m Freestyle and Lewis Mattin (UEA City of Norwich SC) came second in the 17/18 years event.
