Adam Brown of Hatfield SC was part of the British Record breaking Mens 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay team which reached the final at the Olympics in Beijing this morning.
In what was surely the fastest 4 x 100m race in history, all the teams had broken national records just to make the final. The Great Britain team finished in eigth place, however their time of 3:12.87 would have won the gold medal at the Olympics in Athens four years ago. “It was a fantastic swim, we were on World record pace, its just a shame that the teams who won the medals were four seconds ahead of us”.
Hayley Sage competed in the Womens 3m Synchronised Diving final on Sunday, with partner Tandi Gerrard.
Gerrard and Sage had a positive start with good scores for both of their required dives but found themselves in eighth position after the second round of dives.
As the competition entered the third round, the British pair dropped their reverse 2 ½ Somersaults tuck and scored no higher than a seven.
The Commonwealth bronze medallists, Gerrard and Sage, picked themselves up in the fourth round with their reverse 2 ½ Somersaults 1 ½ Twists in free position, the hardest dive in their list, to score well but the gap between the rest of the field was just too much for them.
The Brits finished excellently with their back 2 ½ Somersaults tuck to again score well but finished in eighth position overall with a total score of 278.25.
