Spectators will have the chance to see the world's greatest divers in action in Sheffield this summer when the inaugural FINA Diving World Series gets underway and tickets are now on sale to see diving's elite in action a year out from the Beijing Olympics.
Crowds can expect thrilling encounters from a field of divers that features two Olympic Champions, four additional Olympic medallists, 12 World Champions and 24 World Championship medallists. The competition promises to showcase the very best of diving.
The world's highest ranked divers have been invited to compete in the event and number one ranked nation China will be there in force but will face competition from Canada, Germany, Australia, Russia, the USA, Italy as well as a young British contingent.
Divers will compete for honours in the 3m and 10m individual and synchro events at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre from 1st to 2nd September before the series continues in Mexico (8th-9th September) and China (15th-16th September).
Spectators will be able to see 66 of the world's best divers in action over the two days in what is arguably the highest calibre of diving competition ever held in Britain.
British Diving National Performance Director Steve Foley is urging people to witness some of the world's greatest diving performances while cheering on the large British contingent of athletes.
"The FINA Diving World Series provides an incredible opportunity for the British public to view the cream of the sport in action. It's the type of competition that's putting the best against the best is a real opportunity for Britain's athletes and spectators ahead of London 2012," said Foley.
"This really is the one of the best fields ever to have competed at a diving event and certainly in Britain. The opportunity for people in this country to witness the sport at its highest calibre is just fantastic and the competition will be thrilling."
Tickets are now on sale via the ASA Awards website and are priced £10 for adults per day, £5 for children per day or weekend tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £7.50 for children.
