Be among the first to discover key learning from the ASA's pioneering swimming and participation initiatives at the inaugural Everyday Swim Conference in London on Thursday 11 October.
Hosted at The Barbican in Central London, the Everyday Swim Conference 2007 is a must for anyone involved in swimming provision, health promotion or increasing activity levels amongst local groups and communities.
Thanks to a £3million investment from Sport England and substantial contributions at a local level, Everyday Swim is one of the country’s largest investigations into increasing activity levels.
18 months into the programme there is a wealth of good practice to share, backed up by robust monitoring and evaluation, much of which can be implemented straight away on a local level.
Underway in eight areas across the country, Everyday Swim aims to break down the barriers to swimming to get more people into the pool for fun, fitness and as a part of a healthy lifestyle.
Each project has a different focus and many are already bringing about real improvements in the way swimming is delivered and how it is viewed by the local community. Some projects are aimed at specific groups from young people and BME communities to non-swimming adults, disadvantaged families and disabled people, while other focuses include bringing the gym culture to the pool or opening up access to school and private pools to increase capacity.
Speakers at the Everyday Swim Conference include Sport England Chairman Derek Mapp, Everyday Swim Ambassador and Olympic gold medallist Duncan Goodhew MBE, ASA Chief Executive David Sparkes and Director of Sheffield Hallam University’s Sport Industry Research Centre (SIRC) Simon Shibli.
Paralympic swimming champion Chris Holmes MBE will chair the conference, which also includes a variety of interesting workshops during the afternoon session.
The delegate rate includes lunch and refreshments during the day, a resource pack and online access to resources following the event.
Places are available at £145 per person.
A limited number of spaces are reserved for ASA Official Partners, ASA members, IoS members and colleagues from the voluntary sector at the reduced price of £130 per person.
