Lowestoft & Oulton Broad Swimming Club are once again holding their 24-hour relay swim. The event will take place at Waveney Sports and Leisure Centre, where they hope to have swimmers in the water continuously from 08:00 on Tuesday August 26th through until 08:00 on Wednesday August 27th. The aim is to raise over £3000, to be shared between the Starlight Foundation and Lowestoft & Oulton Broad Swimming Club, a community sports club with over 550 members, ranging from those taking their first lessons to those competing at National and International level.
Previous beneficiaries of this event have been the Ellie Savage Memorial Fund, the James Paget Breast Care Appeal and East Anglian Children’s Hospices.
Parents, grandparents and swimmers of all ages are involved, and some hardy swimmers will be attempting to survive Head Coach Simon Pickering’s Challenge for this year – as yet to be unveiled on the world!
The Club are also seeking assistance with the event in the following ways:
- By making a donation – this could be money, food/drink for the swimmers and helpers, or a raffle prize
- Sponsoring the event
- Joining in to swim; individuals and teams most welcome – swimmers can opt to be sponsored themselves or can join in for a donation. You can choose the time of day and the distance you want to swim.
