32 swimmers from Thurrock Swimming Club traveled to the well known Lignano Sports Complex near Venice in Italy in half term to take part in a 6 day training camp. 

 

With four hours poolwork each day and either land training or a daily run, camps of this calibre help in the long term development of these swimmers and gives them an opportunity to train in a 50m swimming pool.

 

Club Coaches Alex Morgan, Debbie Grix and Paul Hayes, and June Sayer (parent chaperone) gave up their time for 6 days to coach the swimmers through extremely strenuous training sessions.

 

The swimmers were back in their home swimming pool the day after they landed and will be back to Blackshots Pool training at 5am daily as usual for the rest of the season. 

 

The club would like to thank Norwest Holst for supplying the polo shirts for the camp, and Tilbury Container Services for sponsoring the sweatshirts.  Lakeside Shopping Centre donated an incredible £2500 towards the £20,000 training camp, which is fantastic sponsorship for a local club.
