City of Peterborough Swimming Club swimmer Charlie Walker, 17, has been selected to swim for the Philippines in this years World Short Course Championships in Manchester.

Charlie learnt of his selection over the weekend, and is delighted to be selected for his first international event.

Charlie will be competing against some of the World's top athletes in Manchester at the Championships, which run from 9-13th April. Some of his fellow team-mates from Peterborough will be making the trip up to Manchester to watch him compete against the worlds best.

This is the first time the World Short Course event has come to England, so if you want to see the world's best swimmers in the run up to the Olympics, why not take a trip to the MEN Arena. Tickets are still available - see www.manchester2008.org
