Claire Warne and Sam Bradley (both 14), attended the Nationwide/Disability Sport Events Sports Awards at Manchester United FC on 5th December and they came away with awards recognising their achievements during 2007.
Claire, who swims with Flitwick Dolphins SC, and Sam, a member of Mid Beds Swim Squad, both scooped Junior National Sports Awards following their respective “Top Girl” and “Top Boy” results at the DSE Junior National Championships in March. In addition, Claire went on to be awarded the East Region Regional Sportsperson of the Year Award. All the awards come with bursaries from the Nationwide which will help towards their competing and training costs.
An early start the following morning saw both swimmers travelling down to Swansea for a British Swimming training camp which they were attending as members of the World Class Development Squad. Following the two-day camp both Claire and Sam will be competing in the Welsh Disability Long Course Championships, their last major competition before the first Paralympic trials in March 2008.
