A successful trio of competitions has seen Flitwick Dolphins disability swimmer Claire Warne (15) break both short course and long course records over the course of 3 successive weekends.
At the DSE/Nationwide Junior National Championships she broke both the SM5 200m I.M. short course European Record and the S5 50m Backstroke short course British Record. She followed this up with 2 long course British Records in 200m I.M. and 50m Butterfly at the Danish Disability Open Championships where she swam as part of a 13-strong GB team.
At the Bedfordshire County Championships she broke the S5 100m Butterfly short course World Record, taking 13 seconds off the time she set last year. All records are subject to ratification. Claire will shortly be travelling to Spain for warm weather long course training before competing at the British Championships during the first week of April.
Fellow Bedfordshire swimmer Sam Bradley has also been in record breaking form. At the Bedfordshire County Championships in Biggleswade, Sam broke the British and European Disability Swimming Records for 800m and 1500m Freestyle (also awaiting ratification). Sam, who is a member of the Mid Beds Swim Squad, was competing for home club Biggleswade SC.
Flitwick Dolphins swimmer Sam Tilbury set a new British short course record in the S13 200m Freestyle, also at the Bedfordshire ASA Championships. Sam was recently selected onto the British Swimming National Talent Programme and will also be competing at the upcoming British Championships.
