Disability Sport Events (DSE) held the Nationwide National Junior Swimming Championship at Ponds Forge in Sheffield last weekend where over 200 young Paralympic hopefuls competed.
Swimmers from the East Region demonstrated their excellent form in all the age groups, and the Region was pleased to pick up the Trophy for Top Team.
Lauren Steadman (Huntingdon Piranhas) in the S9 class showed she is a talent to watch, finishing second behind Louise Watkin of Kelly College in all her races. Steadman was awarded the Nationwide bursary for the girl’s older age group.
Claire Warne (Flitwick Dolphins) claimed a European record in the 200m SM5 Individual Medley. Warne broke her own record of 4:01.63 with a new time of 3:52.40.
