The ASA East Region Open Water Swimming Committee are pleased to announce their third Open Water Championships, incorporating County Championships as appropriate, to be held at Whitlingham Outdoor Education Centre in Norwich on Sunday 19th July.
The event builds on the successful Championships held in 2008, as an all day family event with plenty of food available for purchase from the barbecue! The order of events has been changed however with no ASA Grand Prix Series this year. Once again, any club with swimmers entering each of the four events (male or female) will be automatically entered in the team competition (please see entry form for details). The major change this year is that we are planning a dive start and ‘swim-through’ finish and it is now possible to obtain temporary membership to allow non-ASA members to enter the event – please contact Pauline Larke at eastopenwater@hotmail.co.uk for further details.
Due to an anticipated increase in numbers this year the committee has introduced a requirement for Coach’s passes for access to the deck area. All presentations etc will be directed towards the grass area to the side of the lake so our spectators will be able to view the proceedings. Clubs will be limited to a maximum of 3 passes and will cost £7.50 per pass to include 1 burger/hotdog/bacon roll plus tea/coffee. The registration desk will issue passes on arrival: no access without a pass.
Due to anticipated demand for places all swimmers are asked to submit entries through their club with one cheque for all entries. If an email address is included for the team manager/coach the club’s entries will be acknowledged by email. Closing date is as published on the entry form but you are advised to enter early as entries will be on a first come/first served basis if it is necessary to limit numbers.
All swimmers are asked to complete a short summary about themselves and email to eastopenwater@hotmail.co.uk before the event. These will be used by the announcer while the event is in progress.

Volunteers to help on the day would be welcomed, both pool officials and “non-whites” volunteers; please contact Pauline Larke if you would like to help, or if you have any queries about the event, on eastopenwater@hotmail.co.uk
