Harpenden SC Celebrate Swim 21 Accreditation
06 May 2008 20:29

Harpenden Swimming Club have recently celebrated a number of successes, culminating in a visit from Hertfordshire A.S.A. President Mrs Jane Evans, to present the club with their Swim 21 Accreditation certificate, which was received by Club Captains Amy Thompson & Eric Baker.

Mrs Evans also presented certificates, medals and trophies to all the swimmers who competed in the recent Club Championships. The proceedings were completed with the presentation of County Championship certificates to the swimmers including 13 year old BAGCATS Champion Flora Hanson.

Mrs Evans pointed out that despite the fact the club has been around in one form or another for a number of years, as a competitive club it has only really existed for approximately 6 years and the achievements in such a short space of time are very impressive, not only in the achievement of Swim 21 Accreditation but also in entering so many successful swimmers in League, County and Regional Championships, coaching a County Champion and having a Scottish National Age Group medal winner.

The accreditation at Skill Development level is the culmination of many months work behind the scenes by numerous people, compiling the policies and procedures, sourcing the necessary pool time and manning it as well as the normal day to day work of running the club. Over the last 18 months the club have computerised most of the administration of the club and have also acquired a Shark Eye Underwater camera system as part of their commitment to providing the best facilities they can to their swimmers.

The club are proud to be the first in the St. Albans District to be accredited at this level.
