A Suffolk Swimming Club are celebrating a cash injection after scooping a prize of £1,000 towards their club's development.

Deben SC won the award in the Betfair 'Cash for Clubs' competition run in conjunction with the East Anglian Daily Times.  Sports clubs in Essex and Suffolk were invited to bid for money that would develop much needed services in volunteer run clubs.  Deben were awarded the money to develop their mini polo section.

The judging panel also mentioned Leiston & District SC as deserving special recognition, as they just missed out on one of the prize amounts.  Betfair said that the club 'had a very real need and we wish them every success in finding the money they need to make their plans happen'.

Following the success of the scheme in Essex and Suffolk, it will now be rolled out nationally so clubs from across the region will have a chance to apply for a similar pot of money.  Betfair's Cash4Clubs sceme also has a programme called Refer & earn, where clubs can earn funds through referring friends to Betfair.
