The ASA have been invited by sports coach UK as the first individual sport to run a 3 year education programme 'Women in High Performance Sport' for female coaches who work in a performance environment. Other sports already taking part include rugby, football and cricket.
The programme consists of 4 specialised CPD seminars each year, so each coach must attend 12 seminars in total. These will be based around an individual needs analysis to provide a personalised programme and will include guest speakers. The coaches will also benefit from individual mentoring as part of the programme.
18 coaches, of whom 7 are from the ASA East Region, have been accepted (spanning all disciplines) and they will be attending their first CPD towards the end of next month. The East Region coaches accepted onto this programme are:-
Janet Warrington (Hoddesdon SC)
Vix Metcalf (Mid Beds Swim Squad)
Sue Purchase (St Felix School)
Alex Morgan (Thurrock SC)
Helen Lawton (Southend on Sea SC)
Sylvia Harrison (Stowmarket SC)
Jill Walker (Lowestoft and Oulton Broad SC)
