Annual Council Meeting & Awards Presentations 2016
The ASA East Region held its Annual Council Meeting on Saturday, September 17, including the annual awards presentation.
The Annual Council meeting gave the membership an opportunity to consider the Annual Report and Accounts and saw elections to various East Region posts, the inauguration of the new President and gave an opportunity for the outgoing President to report on her engagements over the previous year.
British Swimming Launches Innovative Online Resource
British Swimming has recently launched 'Off the Blocks'. This is an online resource designed to provide information and support to our coaches working across the country. It is a free programme designed by experts to be used by people working in the sport in Great Britain that want to upskill.
East Region Masters Championships
This is reminder that the closing date for entries to the Masters Championships on the 1st October at Newmarket Leisure Centre are as follows:
Individual entries closing date has been extended untill Midnight Monday 12th September
Relay Entries closing date is still midnight 17th September

Great Success on Day One of the Paralympics
Congratulations to the athletes and their teams for a great start in the pool at the Paralympics, particularly to the East Region athletes. Jessica- Jane Applegate from UEA City of Norwich won a bronze medal in the women's 100m Backstroke S14 with a time of 1:08:67. Harriet Lee, a former East Region swimmer at City of Peterborough SC claimed a silver medal in the 100m Breaststroke SB9 final with a time of 1:16:87. To find out who is in the pool next CLICK HERE.
The ASA announces changes to swim21 Essential module
The ASA has announced a change to the swim21 club Essential module accreditation after feedback from the annual ASA Club Survey

ASA Talent Camp for Volunteers 2016/2017
Applications for the 2016/17 National Talent Camp for Volunteers are now open. All of the information required regarding the programme, eligibility and applications can be located HERE on the volunteering hub. Applications are open until the 16th September 2016.
Daley and Goodfellow take 10m Synchro Bronze
Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow claimed a bronze medal in the Men's 10m Synchronised diving event on day three of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The Team GB pair finished with a score of 444.45 to claim third place. Dan Goodfellow, from Cambridge Dive Team, was taking part in his first Olympics and has only been partnered with Daley since October 2015. It was down to the final dive, and the Team GB divers pulled out a beautiful 3 1/2 Somersaults piked. The dive scored 89.64 to move them just ahead of the German pair who had been sitting in third place.
East Swimming Talent Camp 2016
The dates for the ASA East Swimming Talent Camp 2016 have been confirmed as the 13th November and the 4th December 2016. The venue this year will be Stanground Pool, Peterborough. The selection criteria for the camp has been confirmed and is available by clicking here
