Swimming in the East Region involves many volunteers who work with regional staff to provide opportunities for all affiliated clubs in the region. Volunteers make up several committees that ensure the smooth running of regional championships, officials development and meet licensing.
Chaired by the regional swimming manager, the swimming committee organise annual regional long and short course championships and inter-county championships. The group is comprised of county representatives as well as several specialists (See Terms of Reference).
Reporting to the Swimming Committee are the East Swimming Coaches Forum and the Regional Licencing Officer. The Swimming Committee also link with the Swimming Officials Group who work to develop officials in the region.
East Swimming Coaches Forum
The coaches forum comprises of experienced coaches from around the region who are supported by regional staff to ensure that development opportunities are provided for coaches and swimmers. This includes swimmer and coach development. The forum is also supported by the Swim England Swimming, England Programmes Team who help to guide the region in development of swimmers and coaches. Regional Licensing Officer
This role helps to ensure all clubs, counties and the region are abiding by the licensed meets criteria to ensure all meets held in the region are of a high standard. The Regional Licensing Officer is assisted by two additional volunteers to form a licensing panel and the Regional Administrative Assistant.

Swimming Officials Group

Each year the region holds regional talent camps which are the first step towards being identified by the England Programmes Team and moving on to the camps on their pathway. The camp is held over two days towards the end of every year and is aimed at 11-12 year olds. The content of the day is set by the England Programmes Team and comprises of pool sessions, land work and classroom sessions.
Two coach development days are planned each year in the region, one regionally led, usually around June, and one led by the England Programmes Team at the end of each year.
