The Swim England Open Water Age Group Championships took place on 31st July at Rother Valley Country Park.  Swimmers from the East Region had qualified by finishing in the top three in their age group at the Regional Open Water Championships in July at Whitlingham County Park, Norfolk.

There were 31 swimmers from East Region clubs taking part in age groups from 12 to 19+ with some great swims all around.  Swimmers in the 12, 13 and 14 years age groups competed over 1.5K, with those in the 15 and 16 years competing over 3K and both the 17/18 and 19+ age groups tackling 5K.

Medals were won by Joe Cooper (teamipswich) in the boys 13 years 1.5K and Jamie Scholes (Co Peterborough) in the boys 17 years 5K, who both claimed gold medals.  Amber Hughes (Hatfield) won a silver medal in the girls 17/18 5K and Nathan Wells (West Norfolk) also won a silver in the 19+ 5K.  Bronze medals went to Jamie McCaffrey (Modernian) in the boys 16 years 3K and Philippa Shuttleworth in the 19+ 5K.
