East Region World Class Development Day 2018

31 January 2018
This exciting and innovative event is the first regionally led event of its kind in the Country.  The event will be on Wednesday 11th April 10.00-3.00pm (approximately – final timings confirmed nearer the event) at Hertfordshire University Sports Village.

The objective of the day is the delivery of development programmes built around world class athletes and their support networks. The day will include workshops for the three separate strands involved (athletes, parents and coaches). These workshops will include talks from highly experienced coaches as well as other sports professionals.

Applications open 1st February – Applications from athletes (and their parents/guardians) will be received up until Friday 2nd March. Applicants will then be notified via email by Friday 9th March of whether they have been selected. A cohort of up to 60 athletes will be identified for the event. Once all applications have been received the East Region Talent Officer (ERTO) will finalise the cohort for the event. If due to event number management, the received applications have to be streamlined, priority will be given to those at the higher end of the identified age bands as this will be a rolling programme year on year and younger athletes will have further opportunities in the coming years.

Coaches if they wish to attend, must register in advance to do so. There will be no cost to attend the day. The event has been organised and funded by Swim England East Region. Coaches must be active members of East Region clubs. Please note that this event will double up as the selection day for the East Region International Meet Team. The region will be attending a non UK-based competition in June/July 2018 prior to the summer national events. Selection will be based on a number of factors, the details of which will be confirmed prior to the event on the 11th April.
